Yes in present context India needs a PATRIOT LAW

I am of the opinion that India also needs a PATRIOT LAW to contain the integrity of the country. It needs this type of law to curb
  • growing wedge between communities,
  • politicizing of situation,
  • irresponsible media commentary & coverage,
  • any Tom, Dick or Harry expressing anti national feelings,
  • reserving a state or city for a particular community,
  • destroying Public Property in the name of Demonstration, Strikes, Dharnas, or Agitations,
  • wasting Public Money for personal goals and ambitions,
  • delaying a project execution and thereby increasing cost and delaying the benefits of the project.
P.S. Kindly also give alternative solutions to the problem.

  1. Yes... India needs tough Law to deal with on going Terrorist activities. We have to broaden the base of the current Law and have to re-write it. But at the same time we have be cautious that the new law should not be misused to score any political ground against any community for vote. Terrorist do not belong to any community or religion .Islam does not allow any of its followers to kill any human being in the name of Islam, People are doing so are not at all a Muslim and in no way they can justify it

  2. Few black-sheep don't make any community BAD, they are there in each community.
Take example of MUMBAI, I ask why Mumbai should be only Maharashtrians?
Take example of Media they keep on reporting anything and often without verification.
We should rise above the community and first BE INDIAN, and anybody or whosoever promotes feeling which are non-secular or against the goodwill of the country should be punished severely.

  3. Religion, communities were made to unite people, not make them enemies. All of us are born with different identities-some hindu, some muslim, some punjabi speaking, some tamil speaking. But the choice to lead our lives is ours, its we n only we who can decide how to live our life.As the famous poet Emily Dickinson had said that this life is too small for even love, forget even thinking of hate. The best we can do is to practice Unitarian Universalism and be tolerant to views of all other religions and communities. No religion teaches its followers to kill or deride others. It is a few political people who interpret it falsely for their own use.We as educated people should not fall gulliblle to these politicians gimmicks. When we exercise this practice and internalize this harmony with the other elements of this universe, then we would not need any external law and we would live perfect lives. My ideas may be too idealistic and difficult to achieve but not impossible. If a few can do it, so can the rest.We just need to keep trying.

  4. I agree that India needs Patriot Law to stop the misuse of public sentiments to score votes. It is high time now when India should realize the power of being united. We are looking forward to concepts like globalization and some uneducated (although literate) people are still stuck in dividing the country in the name of states castes and religion. We are stuck in these trivial issues and missing out on big opportunities. The irony is the people, who are responsible for misusing it, have the power to pass this law. Do u think they will ever pass this kind of law which would unite the country????

  5. I dnt think we need a patriot law. We have enough law to deal with terrorism but we need proactive Intelligence agency & Police. A Federal agency like CBI or FBI is urgent need to deal with terrorism. Besides all this political reforms can play a major role. Instead of blame game politicians should allow intelligence agencies & police to work without pressure of producing results.

  6. i think more than making new laws such as these India should concentrate on rightly implementing the existing laws.there are quite a no.of laws which if practiced the way they were meant to be could practically solve any problem faced- be it terrorism, riots or anything of that sort.
secondly, as many would agree that these religious drama that takes place now n then is more related to politics than to religious sentiments and in India politics is above all law. i guess the call of the hour is to bring these politicians to justice who start the fire n then relax at their home. to do this we need to check corruption, which again is a problem in itself. so, guys making laws wont help. though increasing accountability of the so called VIPs might.
thirdly, in India democracy is a highly sensitive issue. patriot law provides the law agencies access to numerous private records which I think is unacceptable in India and can result in political instability and again in demonstrations and riots.
lastly, India has the longest of constitutions, surely theres a law for all situations. when these have already failed time n again we cant expect much from new ones.
so the best option we have is to practice well the laws that already exist.

  7. Of all the forces that are exerted on us over our life time, at least for me, love has been the most powerful of all. As our population increases, our planet becomes smaller and smaller. Therefore, its very important that we all learn know how to love and accept each other and if that’s not possible, atleast learn how to tolerate each other. I learnt that very early in my life and due to moving around and having my education at so many places I had a chance to meet people from so diversified backgrounds …..We must understand and realize that there are as many ways to live life on this planet as there are people on this planet. 2500 years ago Socrates said that THE PERFECT HUMAN BEING is all human beings put together. It’s a collective. It is we. It is all of us together that make perfection. So, its high time that we pass on this message to everyone – the message of love, unity, peace, acceptance and tolerance.
We must realize that no law will be effective until and unless we change our perspectives about each other and learn to appreciate each other for what we are and not for what we want them to be. Remember….. the law is for us and not we for the law.

  8. But, what is the necessity? To make people more patriotic or to wedge more differences, or to end terrorism, the acts to create fear to attain some ideological goals opposed to all, disregarding the safety of innocents. It is not a war but a conflict and difference in opinions and civilizations..If sorted out, ineffectively, like what INDIA is trying to do results are visible....more violence. It is duly agreed that we are becoming the softest targets for terrorists but these people are not demons or Satan incarnation, they are simple human beings, fellow countrymen but named differently according to their birth. Need for another law, there are sufficient ,starting in 85 with Armed Forces Special Powers Act AFSPA, the dreaded TADA, and the lethal POTA what else ... but to analyze the basic problem ,something worthwhile has to be done , not a new law like a new commodity in the market
....Who are the people who stand to gain the most? Politicians, fundamentalist leaders, head of different religions. Questions like what do you want to make HINDUSTAN? A place where Hindu lives or, a place where people loving Hindustan lives. Identify the ones who are being governed and controlled by them? They are those people who have lost their senses either in zeal to become self proclaimed heroes or someone who is blind due to vengeance keeping in mind "AN EYE FOR AN EYE" concept or else the large uneducated chunk for easy lure of money, or else the misguided ones.
The question here is not how deep the cleavage is but how much more bifurcation is there. Communal sensitivity, reservation has already divided people to different religions, caste, and culture. But people still not stop claiming "we are one" and united we stand. But do they really are one, the answer is still a zero, no, complete sifar, then why are the eyes closed?
Terrorism is not only communal specific; there are naxalites, the demand for different states like Khalistan, Gorkhaland and now erstwhile insane leaders like the MAHRASHTRA son. Remedy lies in teaching, those who have resorted to these and asking them the reasoning and the futility to act like this. Though things have gone really far, but it should be started now so that upcoming generations do not have to sit on a detonator and enjoy 21st century going hi-tech, the more education u spread, more will be the understanding and less hatred. Its simple and naive a family hungry for 3 days devoid of money and not getting anything, they will ultimately kill and loot as a last option. As a result some starts supporting them giving them a name and a structure for his personal mileage and then , upscale activities eventually starts as Chinese whispers, but eventually the real reason was hunger, basic need . As a result a strategist with a great mind who is hell-bent to prove himself that he is their mentor, will get a chance to come into limelight, and once he becomes their leader he will ensure that they always remain hungry so that his need be always there with the cause.
It really feels bad, to see Indian Tricolor being removed from the Chowk in Kashmir on Independence Day and waving of PAKISTANI FLAG, and local people supporting it. But that doesn’t mean to kill everyone .Basic results being same unending continued demands of separate states and that has what resulted in TERRORISM in India. Sorry to go so deep but, who are the persons heading them, political leaders not any simple man, but leaders. There are so many laws which are already here, but the targets again will be a name or a religion specific. The implementation is not efficient because of shortcomings in the system both POLITICAL and ADMINISTRATION, who only play the blame game. Results are more shocked people who simply cannot deny the fact that they met injustice due to their birth and religion in minority, and once again very close to the platform of “WE and THEY” ideology. Once entering into the league there are these cherished leaders welcoming them with both hands, and making them stubborn fundamentalist .Either stop political ploys or make efficient management and administrative system, or face the consequences. Check for instance, it took almost 30 years for England to control IRA, though people had their same religions only a different dialect. But they concentrated the youth, instilled a sense of belongingness in them and now the result stands, terrorism due to IRA has been enormously controlled.I am not saying to follow examples of FRENCH or Spanish style of combating terror by delineating terrorists and their supportive, and strictly out casting them, or tough ruthlessness of ISRAEL with which they deal with terrorism, our conditions are totally diverse in this present context and much more complicated. Its only our people who are going towards this line and some puny little politicians who support to garner votes bringing terms like Muslim votes, Hindu votes, therefore the need is to change the political system is the top priority.
Another important role should that be of media, who is presently working under a curtain of government. The need for freedom is with everyone, and as citizens of democratic republic don’t just give what is redeemed as fit but give only the truth no matter how acidic it is. And sorry to not answer the main question that does INDIA needs a PATRIOT LAW. YESSSSS keep on bringing more and more, at the rate of one law each month and one day even your breaths, your life, relations and even emotions will be censored... It is up to you ,please understand your role and do something worthwhile explain the root cause, do not kill or punish otherwise their PRIME OBJECTIVE will be achieved......to spread hatred.
BHAGAT SINGH TRULY SAID “it is not independence I am worried off, we will get it eventually, it is the rulers who will rule after the BRITISHERS" and here are the results you are watching.
